1963 Galaxie 2-Door Sedan VIN 3E51C194738, BODY 62B, COLOR M, TRIM 12, DATE 08D, DSO 12, AXLE 4, TRANS 3 Bill says: This car was purchased new from Duryea Motors in Holley, New York on May, 27 1963 by a little old lady who only used it on weekends. The purchase price was an astronomical $2,196.00! The options were the 289-2V V-8 engine, Fordomatic 2-speed automatic transmission, windshield washers, backup lights, and a driver's-side rearview mirror. No radio or clock were ordered on the car. The woman who purchased the car had the dealer paint the underside of the car the same color as the interior instead of using undercoating. They charged her $17.00 for this service. The blue paint has since been covered up with black but traces of the blue can still be found on the undercarriage. A good friend of mine in Ohio bought the car in 1986 from the woman's estate. At that time, the car had 7,200 miles on it. He then sold it in 1993 to a collector in Grosse Point, Michigan, and the mileage was then up to 11,500. I purchased the car from that owner in 2003, by which time the mileage had accumulated to 14,400. After I had added some 5,000 miles to the odometer, I sold the car to John Vermeersch in 2005. John added about 100 miles in the next three years. I purchased the car back from John in 2008 after selling my 1963 Galaxie 500 2-door convertible (see below). The Galaxie now has accumulated 20,000 miles in forty five years, or about an average of only 445 miles per year!
