1962 Galaxie Club Sedan VIN 2G51G169861, BODY 62B, COLOR A, TRIM 25, DATE 05D, DSO 33, AXLE 9, TRANS 5 This car was well known on the Detroit street racing scene as "Twistin' Time" in its early years. Purchased by John Vermeersch in the late '60s and modified for NHRA C/MP class drag racing. Extensively modified by John, who added "dealer lightweight" kit C2AZ-6200012-A, consisting of fiberglass hood, front fenders, decklid, and right-side door, and aluminum front bumper and brackets. The car also received Plexiglass windows and windshield, along with other weight saving modifications. Purchased from John in 1977 and raced until 1983. A 427-4V SOHC engine, steel wheels, and exhaust system were installed in 1986, and the car has been street driven since then. This car can be seen in full NHRA C/MP class trim on Page 26 of Charles Morris' excellent book "Total Performers, Ford Drag Racing in the 1960s". This car is a great old survivor with a noteworthy history!
