| The Motor City Galaxie Club has donated thousands of dollars to Greater Detroit Area charities since the club was formed in January 2003. Here are details on some of those donations: The Motor City Galaxie Club donated $3,200 ($2,950 net proceeds from the 2010 Spring Fling + $250 from the club account) to Wigs 4 Kids, www.wigs4kids.org, on Wednesday, July 14th. This money is being used to purchase human hair wigs for 4 children who have lost their hair due to illness.

The Motor City Galaxie Club donated $500 (about 25% of our annual dues revenue) to the Grace Centers of Hope, www.gracecentersofhope.org, of Pontiac on Tuesday, June 1st. Grace Centers of Hope is Oakland County’s oldest and largest homeless shelter providing hope and help since 1942. Today, Grace Centers of Hope is considered one of the leading faith-based organizations in Southeastern Michigan daily confronting issues of homelessness, addiction, poverty and spiritual emptiness. On any given night, Grace Centers of Hope will accommodate between 150-200 men, women and children. Each year they serve over 127,000 meals and provide over 55,000 nights of stay. Their $4.4 million dollar budget is supported exclusively through private support; we receive no government dollars.

The Motor City Galaxie Club donated $500 (which represents about 25% of our annual dues revenue) to the 23rd Annual Dick Purtan Radiothon to benefit The Bed & Bread Club of The Salvation Army on Friday, February 26, 2010. The Bed & Bread Club brings food, shelter and services to destitute people within our community, providing them with their basic needs and assisting them to get back on their feet. Through Salvation Army facilities and off the Bed & Bread trucks, almost 5,000 meals are served each day to children, adults and seniors. Three hundred and sixty-five days of the year Bed & Bread trucks make stops in metro Detroit’s most depressed areas. In addition, the Bed & Bread program shelters men, women and children each night.
